More Catching Up...

Now let's talk about Labor Day. We took our first trip to the Zoo! It was so fun. I hadn't been to the zoo since I was 17 and I went in Ohio with my sister and her 2-year-old, and Jeremy didn't think he'd been since he was 12 or something. So it was time! We hoped Eli would really like all the animals, but he didn't get too into it. He was an angel the whole day and enjoyed looking around at everything, but he didn't really grasp the whole concept. :) Maybe next time...

So we got up that morning and I made a big breakfast (a first in a looong time; I felt so good that day!) and then we headed out around 9:30. The high that day was only about 70 degrees, so it was nice and cool in the morning. We got there a little before 10 and started our way around the zoo. We saw all sorts of things - monkeys, apes, elephants, giraffes, tigers, wolves, rhinos, snakes, a snow leopard, kangaroos, birds, camels, and so on. I must say after seeing lots of those animals on a safari in Africa, something about the zoo just isn't quite as cool. BUT, being there with your husband and child makes it so so worth it. We all had a great time.

It was funny when we got to the elephants; we were pointing to the big elephant, trying to show Eli and he just didn't see a thing. He started pointing at a bird on the ground, but totally didn't see the giant elephant. It was awesome. The elephant was just kind of standing around, so he probably just looked like a giant boulder to him. :) The same thing happened when we saw the tigers. He pointed to a big scratched up ball in with the tiger, but wasn't interested in the 4 tigers walking around. Oh well. However, we did get a closer look at one of the tigers on our way up to another section of the zoo, and he pointed and stared at him for awhile that time.

The pictures I took didn't turn out very well, but I'm putting them up anyway. Oh well.

We ended up staying at the zoo for about 2 hours. Like I said, Eli was a champ. There was so much to look at - whether or not he looked at the animals :) - that he was thoroughly entertained. Then we came home and he took a 3 hour nap! Definitely worth the trip. Jeremy and I got a nice nap too (hooray!) and then we had some friends over that night for family night and games. It was a great holiday!

Then last weekend we went to the Greek Festival with some friends, but I forgot my camera. Lame. We enjoyed eating some delicious gyros, pastitsio, spanakopita, and Greek salad. Mmm mmm. And that's about it! We don't have anything major planned this weekend, but on Wednesday, Jeremy's parents are coming to visit! We're so excited. We don't see them all that often, so it will nice to have some quality time with them. (And for them to have quality time with Eli - we know that's why parents really come :) So that's what's coming up! I think I'm just about caught up now. Woohoo!

Catching up...

So 3 weeks ago my mom and Heidi drove out from California. Heidi just started her Junior year at BYU, so they hauled all her stuff back. So they visited with us Tuesday night, and then Wednesday we went down to help her get moved in. It's always fun to go back to Provo and get flooded with happy memories - and at the same time be really glad to be in my current stage of life. :)

So anyway, then we had a fun time hanging out with my mom for the rest of the weekend. She's always so helpful when she comes and she and Eli had a good time bonding.

Saturday my mom and I went to Day Murray Music to look for Christmas stuff for my ward choir. It's always fun to look at choir music with my mom. And I found everything I needed! Hooray. Then that night we went down to Provo again and we all went out to dinner for Jeremy's birthday! His birthday was on Sunday, but we wanted to go to Tucano's on Saturday. We went and checked out Heidi's apartment and then we all stuffed our faces at dinner. :) Then Sunday we celebrated Jeremy's birthday again! He opened his presents with the help of Eli and then we had a yummy Brownie Pudding (at his request) and ice cream. My mom left Monday morning. Thanks for coming mom!

Oh, and before my mom came we had our Stake Conference which was awesome. We had a member of the Seventy there - Elder Rudolfo Franco. He was such a kind man and it was great to hear from him on Saturday night and Sunday morning. I'm the Stake Music Chairman, so I was in charge of all the music for that, so it was a relief that it went so well! I directed the choir on Sunday morning and it was awesome! We had about 50 people and it was so much fun. I think everyone had a great time and I got a lot of good feedback.

So there's one of the weeks I missed. I'll save the last 2 weeks for the next post.

Oh, and I had to throw these two in there. The first is one morning when Eli snuck a spatula off the edge of the counter and for some reason he also thought he needed his hat on. The second is when Jeremy was outside mowing the lawn. He stood like that almost the whole time Jeremy was in the front. He's a cutie.

Boo!

So I know I have a lot of blogging to catch up on, but I just couldn't resist putting these videos of Eli up. He has been extremely entertaining lately. He jabbers all the time, laughs, and has so many funny little quirks. His new favorite word is "Boo". He says it more like bow/beau (or [bo] for you fellow IPA people - nerd alert!). It's pretty cute. He loves to be startled and surprised so I say boo a lot in playing with him and a week or so ago he started saying it too. He seriously says it like 200 times a day. It's awesome. :) So this first video is of me saying it to him, him laughing, and him saying it too. He was really loopy this afternoon because he didn't sleep very long in his nap, so he kept throwing his head back in laughter and it was pretty hilarious.

Then this one is from this evening when he was in a very talkative mood. He carries on conversations with us like we're supposed to understand what in the world he's saying. It will be fun when he actually can talk to us, but for now, this is great. He often will lean forward and raise his eyebrows and say something like it's really important. I love it.

Yep, you guessed it. I'm...Prego. Preggers. Expecting. Bun in the oven. Pregnant!

Ah, it feels good to get that out. It's hard to keep your own secrets. :)

So yes, Baby #2 is in the womb. We are very excited and that is really my excuse for the lack of blogging the past couple months. I am 12 weeks along and am due on March 21st (one month before Eli turns two!)

Yes, I have been sick - not as bad as many people, but sicker than I was with Eli. However, this past week has been improving, so I think I'm about done. Hooray!

I know I have lots of blogging to catch up on, but for now, we just wanted to make the announcement!
