Fruits of our labors

Well, I know the main thing we blog about here is our garden, but we just love it so much. So, tonight we made our own pasta sauce! We have a lot of tomatoes all of a sudden, so we thought that would be a good way to use a bunch up. So we took about 16 roma tomatoes, blanched them, peeled them, and boiled them down forever and even though there were so many, it made enough sauce for about 3 servings. (2 for us, one for Jeremy's lunch tomorrow). But it was delicious! I added some fresh basil and parsley from the garden, and then some garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and a bay leaf. We were very excited about it. It's so fun to have such fresh food. I have a picture here (I should have taken it before I put parmesan cheese on top, but oh well) and the green beans in the picture are from our garden too! Yum, yum!We felt very healthy eating these fresh vegetables and herbs and it's just really fun to finally get to eat what we've been growing all summer!

Stake Conference

So, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but life's just been rolling along pretty normally, and there hasn't been anything too exciting to write about. However, this past weekend we did have an incredible Stake Conference. Elder Ballard (yes, the apostle) came along with Elder LeGrand Curtis of the Seventy and they were both amazing. The theme of the conference was service and they both gave a lot of personal stories and had a lot of insight. Jeremy and I both felt very inspired to do more and give more of ourselves - a good reminder for everyone. So, it was a fabulous weekend. We both sang in the Stake Choir and I got to sit right behind Elder Ballard! I could have stroked his hair if I wanted to (but don't worry, I didn't). We did shake his hand afterward though, so that was pretty exciting.

So that's the latest with us. Next week my little sis is coming out to BYU!!! Yea! My mom is driving her out and then my dad is flying out later in the week. We're trying to convince my sister Amy and her family to come down from Boise too. (Amy if you're reading this, we reeeeaaaalllyyyy want you to come!) It's Jeremy's birthday next Friday so it will be fun to have family around. And it's a three-day weekend! Woohoo! I'll be sure to take pictures of his 27th birthday. :)

The garden is doing well too. Our tomatoes are fabulous and we're finally getting green beans! I was starting to think they were dead, but they're not. We've been making a lot of salsa fresh from our garden and it's been so fun to have fresh veggies. So that's us! I'll try and have something more exciting to post soon.

California

So, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I went to California last Monday-Wednesday for my friend Paige's wedding. It was a very packed trip, but a lot of fun. Monday, my mom picked me up from the airport and then we drove straight down to Modesto to visit my grandma who I haven't seen in quite awhile. So we went to lunch with her and my aunt and visited for quite awhile. (I'm still waiting to get some pictures from my mom from that day). Then, Tuesday, Heidi and my mom and I drove to Oakland for the wedding. Paige looked so beautiful! I was a bridesmaid so that was a fun little experience. It was so fun seeing the Oakland temple. I hadn't been there since my own wedding 3 years ago and this was the first time I had been to a sealing (for the living :)). So, here's a few pictures from the day:





It was so fun to think back on the day Jeremy and I got married. Happy memories! So, then on Wednesday I went to yoga with my mom and then Becky (Jeremy's sister) and her adorable kids came over for lunch and swimming and then Debbie and Jared came later. We had a fun time sitting by the pool and chatting. (And picking blackberries, yum!) So here's some pictures of the kids:

So, it was a very fun trip. I started reading "The Host" in the airport Monday morning and I finished it on Thursday. Wow, it was really good. I highly recommend it to anyone. I also read "Breaking Dawn" this weekend and it was great! I think I need to take a little break from the reading though, because 2 huge books in one week is a lot. My brain and eyes are tired. :) But it was worth it! Anyway, so that's what's going on with us. Life is good. The garden is growing still! We've even had a few tomatoes and they are delicious! By the way, Jeremy is doing well too. :) This post was kind of all about me because he didn't come to California with me, but he's doing great! He went golfing last weekend in prep for his work tournament this week and he's still enjoying his job. He's on the 5th Harry Potter now and I'm so proud he's been reading so much! I think he's read more in the past 3 months than ever in his life. And he's enjoying it! Haha. Anyway, so that's us!
