My aunt Marie has this piano that she gave to her daughter, my cousin, Michelle when she moved up to Boise. Well, Michelle moved back home and they don't have a place for the piano in their house so a few months ago she asked if we would like to hold it for them for while.
YES we would!!!
So they finally went and picked it up in Boise and brought it over a couple weeks ago. I don't know how long we'll have it, but I'm guessing for a couple years at least. It was a bit of a beast for them to move in and my uncle said he didn't want to see it (or mostly, he didn't want to move it) again for a long time.
I hadn't realized how much I missed having a real piano. (By the way, if you're confused, we have a digital piano, but I don't consider that "real". It's great and functional and was inexpensive, but I am very aware of the difference between it and this "real" aka acoustic piano). I have played the acoustic piano everyday since we got it.
This is such a little blessing for us. Of course we would have loved to buy a real piano of our own, but with buying a house last year and having a baby and putting up a fence this year, it just wasn't in the works. Now we get the benefit of having one for potentially a few years and hopefully by the time we have to give it back we'll have enough saved to get one of our own!
So in the meantime we're keeping both pianos and now our "living room" really is the "piano room" (that's what we always called it anyway). Here's a picture of our new setup. (The bench is being repaired).

That is great! I am so jealous you get to accompany Heidi! What is she playing?
Congrats to you!! It is a beautiful piano. I do hope you get to watch it for a long time. I am with you when it comes to pianos and being "real" I am saving up for one too. *though I am no where near the pro you are*
How wonderful! What a blessing for you, I wish I could hear you play!
Yea! Pianos are great!
Yay! So fun to read about your piano. And I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU on digitals vs acoustic. When I blogged about my "new" piano, I didn't even mention the "piano" we already have. Of course, it's been great for teaching voice lessons and beginning piano lessons -- but acoustic makes SUCH a difference!! I had gotten to the point where I didn't even want to play...it just wasn't the same. So glad you and I have both been blessed with real pianos! :D
Amy - she's playing the Grieg A Minor Concerto. You know, it starts out with the big chord and all the octaves. Glad I'm just playing the orchestra part!
Sarah I love how you set up the piano with the plant. You are so artistic! I am so happy that you are playing the piano again. You are such an EXTREMELY talented young lady. I have always loved hearing you play. I can't wait to hear you and Heidi play together. That will be so much fun for both of you. I am sure Eli is enjoying your playing too. You do such a great job on your blog! I love to read it.
I was going to tell you... my neighbor is a piano tuner by profession and she is way cool, so if you need someone to tune it for you, I know someone who could do it for you. :) But no pressure... and maybe it's already tuned! I am so excited for you. If anyone should have a second piano in their home, it should be you!
