August was a Astle sibling month! I saw all of my siblings except for one (miss you Wendy!). Heidi and Sam came to visit us the 2nd week of August. They live in Iowa, about 3 hours away, and Sam had to do part of his boards near Philadelphia. SO he found a flight out of Chicago that would save them a lot of money and Heidi got to stay with us while he was gone! Unfortunately we'd all been sick and I had a nasty cough and little to no voice the whole time they were here, so I did not feel fun at all. Heidi assured me they had a good time, but I'm not so sure. They ended up getting sick after they left too so I felt really bad! I promise I'll be more fun next time you guys! :)
They got in late Saturday night then Sam was gone Monday and Tuesday. On Sunday, we went to church and then Heidi entertained the boys by playing Chinese Checkers with them. Monday, we got to get Connor's cast off (woohoo!) and then we went out to lunch. I think we went to the park one day too (?). I can't really remember, but I know Tuesday night Heidi and I made falafel and it was SO GOOD!!! And so much fun!Way to fry those falafel balls, Heidi!
Oh, and homemade pitas too, of course. Great, now I'm hungry.
THEN the next week, Steve and Yihua came to visit! Their visit was super short since they were just driving through to Washington D.C. Steve started a new job there a couple weeks ago, so they had a long roadtrip out there. They came Monday afternoon and left Tuesday morning. I felt bad I didn't make a nice home-cooked meal for them, because before I knew they were coming that day we made plans to go to the minor-league baseball game here. I was able to get extra tickets so we could all go, but I had promised the kids hot dogs, so we just ate at the stadium. Sorry Steve! It was fun though! We left before the game ended to get the kids to bed, but we had great seats and the boys had a good time.
Yea for all fitting in the minivan!
Anna sat on Uncle Steve's lap for a little while before she started running through the aisles and trying to escape during the whole game...
Tuesday morning - Eli and Connor "defending" Steve and Yihua.
It was fun to see everyone!
