Long time, no blog

So, yes it has been a long time. I apologize. But, I am going to try and to better. So, here I go, playing catch up.

August 26 - September 1

On August 26 (a Tuesday) my mom and Heidi drove from California and arrived at our house late last night. My little sis is at BYU now (crazy!) and so they brought out all her stuff so she could get all moved in. Also, Heidi's roommate and her dad drove out in a truck a
nd brought with them a queen size bed that my mom's friend wanted to get rid of, so they drove it out for us, so we now have a guest bed! (Pictures are later in this entry). So they stayed with us that night and then on Wednesday I went down to Provo with them to get her all moved in and everything. Fun fun! She's living in Hinckley Hall in Helaman Halls and she seems to be having a great time.

My mom stayed with us again on Wednesday and on Thursday night, my dad flew in to join in the festivities. They stayed with us that night and then Friday was Jeremy's birthday! He got off work pretty early and we all went down to Provo and met up with Heidi and her roommate and went to Cafe Rio for dinner. Yum! Then we went to my cousin Katie's volleyball game (she's on
the Utah State team) at BYU and then came back to our house and had cake and ice cream!
Here's the birthday boy. I didn't have 27 candles so I think there are 9 or so on there. And they're pink. Oh well. He's a good sport. :)
Here's the delicious lemon bundt cake I made (at his request).

Then later that night (Friday) my sister Amy and her husband Rob and 3 kids (Seth, Brenna & Grant) got here from Boise. They came down to visit for the 3-day weekend and they stayed with us until Monday. We had a really great time with them, but unfortunately I forgot to take pictures. Jeremy took one of me looking oh so lovely one morning while reading to the little ones. But we did have a fun time! Saturday we went down to Provo again and watched another volleyball game, then had lunch at the Cougareat and then visited my great-aunt & uncle that live in Provo. We then came back up to our house for a Greek food birthday dinner and then went to my grandparent's house that night for cake and ice cream with the entire Astle family. All of my dad's 5 siblings live in Sandy & Riverton, so it's really fun when they all get together at Grandma & Grandpa's (who also live in Sandy). So then Sunday morning my parents left and the rest of us went to church and then went to my grandparents for dinner that night. Amy, Rob, Jeremy and I stayed up way too late that night playing games and chit-chatting, but we had a really fun time. We had a lazy morning Monday (Labor Day) and then they took off that afternoon. It was a packed week!
September 2-now

Jeremy

After all of that, life just pretty much went back to normal. Jeremy is still working hard and doing really well at his job. He's going to L.A. tomorrow for a little "business trip" with his boss. He also finally got set apart as the Elder's Quorum President today. (They called him in mid-July, so he'd been waiting for it to be official for awhile). They split the Elder's Quor
um in two and he has 78 guys in his quorum. Here's a random picture of him enjoying one of his creative outlets:Every once in awhile he comes home and rocks out on our digital piano. I love it. He's also on the 6th Harry Potter book and is totally addicted. He knew the basic story lines of the first 5 because of the movies, but now it's all new and very exciting.

As for me, I'm doing well. I work at the Utah Conservatory 3 days a week now. Tuesdays in Salt Lake, and Thursdays & Fridays in Park City. I have about 13 students and they're still trying to add a few more to make my days even more full. I feel good that I'm contributing financially and glad that it's not full-time so I can still do all of my home-maker duties. :)

Speaking of home-making, Jeremy's mom is the queen of quilting and she recently finished our wedding quilt! She makes a queen-size quilt for her kids when they get married, and ours was very hard so it took many many hours to finish. We're so glad we have another bed to showcase it on. I know I don't understand enough about quilting to fully appreciate all the detail and the hard work it took, but I still think it's amazing! I know she and her good friend Katrina put a whole lot of time into it, and it certainly paid off. Thanks!!!

Here's the quilt. The part near the pillows is the under-side folded over. It's a neat fabric, so I wanted to show that too. The name of the quilt pattern is "Storm at Sea" and that fabric is perfect for that title.
